EAST Kilbride’s hockey ladies took away more than just shells from their trip to the seaside at the weekend, beating Ayr IIs 7-0.
The EK side settled quickly and opened the scoring after only 45 seconds, with Jane Kelly’s cross coming off a defender’s stick for the first of the lucky seven. As the clock hit ten minutes, Sheona Hutchison showed her quality, beating two players and flicking the ball past the keeper on the left hand post. Paula Richmond soon made her mark on the scoresheet, taking it to 3-0, before Hutchison stepped up to the mark with a penalty flick to make it 4-0 at half time. The second half saw Hutchison seal her hat-trick from a well-worked short corner. Ruth Harris and Shona Kinloch rounded up the scoring for the day, taking the final score to 7-0 in favour of the ladies from EK. Ruth Harris and Julia Whittle were named joint players of the match.
